Engineered hardwood floors have a natural (solid) hardwood competent as a top layer, so by properly maintaining/cleaning your engineered hardwood floors you will be able to enjoy its beautiful look and high quality for many years ahead. Here is some tips on how to take care of your newly installed or renovated engineered floors.

Although it might seems obvious, nevertheless many people simply forget to clean liquid or chemical spills right away. Some liquid substance can leave a stain if unattached for some time on the floor. Since engineered floors contain natural wood part in its structure, it is  best to remove the spill as soon as its has accrued in order to prevent any visible stains in the future. In addition, as any hardwood floors, engineered floors was not made to carry high level of moisture concentration for a long period of time, planks could expend and thus should to be removed and replaced with new ones.

Floor areas under the rug should be cleaned regular, due to the possible moisture or dust collected under it. Although rugs could prevent engineered floors from screeches, the dirt and moisture under it could damage your floor. Thus, it is useful to use rugs that made out of natural material, so it can "breath".

Last, but not least procedure that will help maintain  beautiful look of your engineered floors is regular sweeping and moping ( two to three times a week, or as necessary). It is also preferable to use soft mops and brooms. If you are a pet owner, it is helpful to groom your pet's paws regular as well. By taking those simple steps, you can indeed prolong the look and quality of your engineered floors.
