Engineered Hardwood Flooring Options in Scarborough
Engineered hardwood flooring is a versatile option for Scarborough homes, condos and commercial spaces because it combines a real hardwood surface with a layered construction designed for improved stability.
It is available in a wide range of wood species, plank widths, colours and finishes and can be installed using different methods depending on the flooring product, subfloor and property requirements.

Wide Plank Engineered Hardwood
Wide plank engineered hardwood creates a clean, modern appearance while showing more of the natural wood grain.
It is especially popular in open-concept homes, renovated main floors and modern condo interiors.

White Oak, Maple & Hickory Options
Engineered hardwood is available in many wood species and finishes, including white oak, maple and hickory.
Options range from natural and lightly stained floors to warmer brown tones, wire-brushed textures and matte contemporary finishes.

Click, Glue-Down & Nail-Assist Installation
Engineered hardwood flooring can be installed using floating, glue-down or nail-and-glue assist methods.
The appropriate method depends on the flooring construction, subfloor, plank dimensions, manufacturer requirements and conditions of the property.

Why Choose Engineered Hardwood Flooring?
Engineered hardwood provides the appearance and feel of real wood while offering greater dimensional stability than traditional solid hardwood.
Its layered construction makes it particularly useful in properties where concrete subfloors, wider planks or seasonal humidity changes can make solid hardwood less suitable.
Engineered hardwood can be a strong option for:
-
Detached and semi-detached homes
-
Condominiums
-
Main-floor renovations
-
Concrete subfloors
-
Suitable basement applications
-
Offices and commercial spaces
-
Wide-plank installations
Compared with solid hardwood flooring, engineered hardwood also provides more flexibility in installation methods.
The best product still depends on the property, subfloor, wear-layer thickness, flooring construction and how the space will be used.
Engineered Hardwood Installation Methods
There are three common methods we use for engineered hardwood flooring installation.
The appropriate method depends on the flooring product, subfloor and project conditions.

Floating Installation
A floating engineered hardwood floor is installed over an approved underlayment without being permanently nailed or glued to the subfloor.
This method is commonly used with compatible click-lock engineered hardwood and can work well in certain homes, condos and basement applications.
The subfloor still needs to be properly prepared and sufficiently flat before installation.

Glue-Down Installation
Glue-down engineered hardwood is bonded directly to a properly prepared subfloor using hardwood flooring adhesive.
This method is commonly used over concrete and can provide a solid feel underfoot with minimal movement.
Glue-down installation can be particularly useful for many Scarborough condos and properties with concrete subfloors.

Nail - Glue Assist Installation
Nail-and-glue assist installation may be used over suitable plywood or wood subfloors when permitted by the flooring manufacturer.
The flooring is mechanically fastened while adhesive provides additional support.
This method is especially useful with wider engineered hardwood planks where additional stability may be beneficial.

Engineered Hardwood Flooring for Scarborough Homes, Condos & Basements
Scarborough has a wide variety of properties, from established detached and semi-detached homes to townhouses, renovated properties and condominium buildings.
Because the buildings and subfloors vary considerably, engineered hardwood can provide more installation flexibility than solid hardwood.
In homes with suitable plywood or wood subfloors, engineered hardwood may be installed using nail-down or nail-and-glue assist methods.
In many condos and properties with concrete subfloors, glue-down or compatible floating installation may be more appropriate.
Condominium projects can also involve requirements for acoustic underlayment, sound ratings, flooring specifications and board approval. These requirements should be reviewed before flooring is purchased or installation begins.

Engineered hardwood may also be suitable for some basement applications when moisture conditions, subfloor preparation and manufacturer requirements are appropriate.
Choosing the correct combination of flooring construction, wear-layer thickness and installation method is more important than selecting flooring based on appearance alone.

What Our Customers Say About Us
Terri, Toronto
I highly recommend Parqueteam! I used them to replace water damaged flooring in a condo. Emil was AMAZING! He brought mutiple samples until I found one I liked (very patient!) and worked within a limited budget. He kept in constant communication and his team showed up on time, completed the job in two days and did an excellent install.
Dor, Vaughan
We had a water damage to our laminate in our condo unit. Parqueteam was referred by a friend who used them before. They supplied and installed a thick and high-quality vinyl flooring. I'm very satisfied with the job.
Tyler, Toronto
Emil worked with me to get the floor I wanted, was helpful in getting everything I required for my condo and they installed the floors flawlessly. They are beautiful and were awesome to work with. Highly recommend using them.

Engineered Hardwood Floor vs. Solid Hardwood, Laminate and Vinyl Floors
Engineered hardwood has a real wood surface, giving it the natural grain and appearance of hardwood while its layered construction provides improved dimensional stability.
Compared with solid hardwood, engineered hardwood is generally better suited to concrete subfloors and offers more installation options. Solid hardwood, however, can usually be sanded and refinished more times over its lifespan.
Laminate flooring is typically more affordable and provides good scratch resistance, but it does not have a real hardwood surface.
Vinyl plank flooring provides greater water resistance and can be a practical option for areas where moisture is a greater concern.
There is no single flooring product that is best for every property. The right choice depends on the subfloor, budget, desired appearance, property type and long-term expectations.
