How long does it take to refinish a staircase?

The timeline depends on the size and condition of your staircase. On average, a full stair refinishing project in Toronto takes 3–5 days, including sanding, staining, and applying multiple coats of finish.

Is the refinishing process really dust-free?

Yes. We use a professional dust containment system connected to our sanding equipment, which captures up to 99% of airborne dust. This minimizes cleanup, protects your home, and reduces allergy risks during and after the project.

Can I stay in my home during the refinishing process?

In most cases, yes — but you may need to avoid using the staircase for few hours a day depending on drying time. We’ll guide you on timing and access limitations during our consultation.

Do you match the stair color to existing floors?

Absolutely. We offer custom stain matching services to blend your refinished stairs with your existing hardwood floors for a seamless look

Can you replace old stair parts like spindles and railings?

Yes. In addition to refinishing, we offer handrail, spindle, and post replacements. Choose from modern or classic styles to match your décor.

Is it better to replace or refinish my stairs?

If your stairs are structurally sound, refinishing is often more cost-effective and less disruptive than a full replacement. We’ll inspect your stairs during the estimate to recommend the best option.

Our 3-Step Dustless Stair Refinishing Process

Our dustless sanding equipment greatly reduces airborne wood dust while we restore worn staircases. Here’s how the refinishing process works:

Step 1: Preparation & Site Protection

We inspect the staircase, protect surrounding areas and prepare the wood components that will be sanded and refinished.

step 2 dustless stair refinishing and staining

Step 2: Dustless Sanding & Staining

The existing finish is carefully removed using professional dustless sanding equipment. Once sanding is complete, the stairs can remain close to their natural wood colour or be stained to coordinate with the surrounding flooring.

Step 3: Finishing & Cleanup

Protective finish is applied after sanding and staining are complete. We inspect the refinished surfaces, complete any final touch-ups and clean the work area before the project is finished.
